Femto LASIK

Femtosecond Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis, also known as Femto LASIK, is an advanced, bladeless laser eye surgery. This is used to correct refractive errors such as near-sightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism.

"Femto LASIK uses a highly precise femtosecond laser... bladeless technique allows for a safer and more controlled procedure."

What is Femto LASIK?

Femto LASIK is a type of laser surgery that reshapes the cornea to correct vision problems, using a femtosecond laser to create a thin, precise flap on the cornea. This bladeless technique allows for a safer and more controlled procedure with minimal risk of complications compared to traditional blade-based LASIK.

Procedure of Femto LASIK

Unlike traditional LASIK, which uses a mechanical blade to create a corneal flap, Femto LASIK uses a highly precise femtosecond laser to create this flap.
Followed by an excimer laser to reshape the cornea, improving vision accuracy and safety.

Eligibility for Femto LASIK

Age between 18-45 years.
Mild to moderate refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism.
Have stable vision for at least one or more year.
Adequate corneal thickness suitable for flap creation.
Women who are pregnant or nursing are not eligible.
Good overall eye health and no signs of Glaucoma.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to treat both eyes on the same day?

By default, LASIK/Femto-LASIK is done on both eyes at the same time. Although most patients prefer treatment for both eyes at once, eyes can be treated one to four weeks apart if preferred.

After Femto LASIK, will I require reading glasses?

Myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism are among the distance vision problems that Femto LASIK treats. However, presbyopia, a natural age-related disorder affecting near vision, may still require reading glasses if you're over 40.

Does Femto LASIK cause pain?

No, the process is almost painless. Before surgery, numbing eye drops are used, so patients experience no pain or discomfort and only a slight pressure during the process.

Are the outcomes irreversible?

Femto LASIK results in permanent corneal reshaping. However, with time, the lens of the eye may alter due to natural ageing. Long-term vision is clear for the majority of individuals with stable prescriptions.

Will there be glare or halos at night?

Round halos or star effects can appear around bright light sources, and bright light sources are seen differently in the dark. After the first few months, when your brain adjusts, these ocular illusions usually stop interfering.
